About
Each Akin Journals collection begins with a journey. Documenting the people, places and stories discovered along the way. We make clothing in small batches, shaped by moments of creativity and community. Each journey becomes an edition of an ongoing archive.
Our Story
This all began on the road. Surfing and exploring remote corners of the world. In Peru, friends connected us with a small village nearby, where families were struggling to afford the basics to send their kids to school. So we made our first tees to cover the uniforms and supplies for the whole village. On our last day in the village, the kids gave us some drawings they'd made for us. And seeing their creativity, we had an idea. Their artwork could shape a new collection that would help the next community.
Pay It Forward Projects
It's been that way ever since. Everything we make pays it forward. So far, that's meant school supplies for communities in:
Cambodia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Fiji, Ghana, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Mexico, Peru, Samoa, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Tuvalu.
